Vandals target glass business
posted by admin in Window CleaningOwner Carey McDowall said he arrived at work on Saturday morning to discover the mess left behind, with damage to walls and floors and a 10mm-thick window inside receiving a large crack. “It looks like the buggers have had fun; they haven’t just thrown a rock and run, they’ve obviously stood there and had a good go,” he said. However, he was puzzled how the inside window received the damage because there was no rock to indicate one had been thrown at it. “I can’t imagine a piece of glass from the outside window could have done that much damage; it’s going to annoy me.” The premises were not entered by the offenders and nothing was taken the burglar alarm had not activated, he said. The Historic Places Trust has classified the building as a category two historic building. While the building was insured, the incident was a hassle, having to replace the windows and clean up the mess, Mr McDowall said. “It’s just typical mindless stuff. If they think it’s a bit of fun, they will do it to some other poor bugger.”
