Rangers hope home ice provides advantage in Memorial Cup final
posted by admin in Home Phone ServiceIt will be a battle of the well-rested against the well-situated when the Memorial Cup gets decided Sunday in Kitchener, Ont.
Tuesday, the Chiefs clinched their spot in today’s final by defeating the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Gatineau Olympiques, 3-1.
By the time the puck drops Sunday afternoon at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, the Chiefs won’t have laid a lick or fired a puck in anger in nearly five days.
At least, that’s what the Rangers are counting on.
The Rangers will have the fans’ support another intangible the players are counting on.
The Rangers’ big guns though will have to fight through a well-schooled and defensively sound Spokane team.
Coach Bill Peters likes to roll four lines and six defencemen, and if Kitchener manages to squeak through the front lines of defence, there’s star netminder Dustin Tokarski standing in the road.
