Ft. Wayne politician’s home auction fails
posted by admin in Home Phone ServiceA former Republican mayoral candidate who hoped to auction his home to help pay legal expenses for his trial on campaign finance charges ran into a roadblock when the house failed to sell.
Kelty’s legal battle has proven costly since he was indicted on nine counts by an Allen County grand jury last August, three months before he lost to Democrat Tom Henry in the general election. In January, Kelty reported that he had spent $64,485 in legal fees.
Kelty faces trial in October on charges of mishandling campaign contributions and lying to a grand jury. Meanwhile, he and supporters are looking for ways to pay his legal bills.
“We never expected it to stop that low,” Rose Strothman said.
Henry said the home likely would be sold through a real estate agent.
