Electrician killed working on lights at Fort Worth hospital
posted by admin in Home InspectionA 32-year-old electrician was killed Thursday evening when he was electrocuted while working on some lights outside Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital, fire officials said.
Jeff Short, who worked with Cummings Electrical Inc., was rushed into the hospital’s emergency room but was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. His death has been ruled accidental by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Whitney Jodry, spokeswoman for Harris, said the hospital is thoroughly reviewing the incident.
“It’s my understanding he’s an employee of Cummings and was doing some kind of contract work for the hospital,” Jodry said.
“This is a tragic incident,” she added. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the Short family during this time of loss.”
Mike Robertson, human resources manager for Cummings, said Short was a journeyman electrician who had been in the trade a little more than nine years and had worked for Cummings since 2003. Short was married with two children, he said.
“Everyone here, they’re total and utmost concern is with his family and our prayers and thoughts are about them at this time,” Robertson said. “We’re like a family here. He’s like family.”
