Ginger inhibits the growth of ovarian cancer cells, and also modulates the secretion of angiogenic factors.

Angiogenesis is the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels. While it is a normal process of growth and , it is also a fundamental step in the transition of tumors from a dormant state to a malignant state.

Ginger treatment of cultured ovarian cancer cells induced profound growth inhibition in all cell lines tested. Recent studies have shown that ginger root has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects as well as anti-carcinogenic ones.
