No need to worry about falling through open holes.

Take to Task has you covered.

An open manhole in Roswell caught the attention of a resident out walking his pooch.

“Kids play back there,” said Ted Spitzler. “One of them could fall in and hurt themselves.”

Spitzler called us, and we called Fulton County, then the city of Roswell on New Year’s Eve.

The manhole, in a wooded area near the old property on Market , had no cover.

Not being able to reach Roswell on the last day of the year, Take to Task reported the opening to the city’s dispatcher.

The manhole cover wasn’t in Roswell’s , however. The manhole was a sanitary connected to the shuttered across the street, said Roswell’s water resources manager, Alice Champagne.

“We’re not sure why, but the sanitary lid that was put on that manhole apparently was stolen,” Champagne said.

The city still responded to the need and potential danger.

First, they temporarily covered the hole with plywood, while a cover could be ordered. On Tuesday, the new manhole cover was fitted into place.

Champagne said they’ll contact to address the issue.
