Summit Up

Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the worlds only daily column wishing we could keep up with Frank Walter. As we rode up the Super Bee at Copper Mountain this weekend we noticed a familiar face sitting next to us. Actually we noticed the bright yellow jacket first, then saw the name Frank embroidered on the chest and realized we were sitting alongside a Copper legend. Most of you have probably read an article or two in this paper about Frank and his skiing statistics. If not, here is a quick run-down. Frank has been skiing Copper since its inaugural season in 1972, logged well over 900 days on the hill and tracked about 36 million vertical feet. Yes, we said million.Sunday was day number 45 for Frank and put what we thought was a pretty healthy number of 20 days to shame. After a quick conversation on the way up the hill, we came to the realization that if we are skiing that much at the age of 85, which is still far off, we would be very happy with ourselves. Keep it up Frank! We out trying to squeeze in as many turns as we can before were in our 80s.
