Home Depot closing 6 D-FW Landscape Supply stores
posted by admin in Home DepotThe Home Depot Inc. is shutting down its Landscape Supply store concept as part of an effort to focus on its core retail stores.
Atlanta-based Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD) spokesman Ron DeFeo said the company would close six of the Landscape Supply stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and five in Atlanta by Nov. 19.
We don’t have any plans to expand the concept and we feel these resources would be a better benefit to our organization if they were redeployed to our core retail stores, DeFeo told the Dallas Business Journal Thursday. We feel we can serve our current landscape customers through our traditional retail stores.
About 380 employees will be cut when the 11 stores close, including 170 in the Dallas-Fort Worth stores.
Home Depot is hosting job fairs for Landscape Supply employees in Dallas and Atlanta on Friday for internal positions within Home Depot.
As of July 30, Home Depot ran 1,923 stores in the United States, 157 stores in Canada, 63 stores in Mexico and 12 stores in China. The company also has 34 EXPO Design Center stores.
