Authorities in southwestern Minnesota are investigating a home invasion in which an intruder was shot and wounded.

Police responded to a call shortly after midnight from a home near Truman, which is southwest of Mankato. Marcella Sauck called to report that a man was in her home and assaulting her husband, Elmer.

Marcella Sauck was flown to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, where a spokeswoman says she’s in critical condition. Elmer Sauck was also injured.

The suspect ended when the Sauck’s son came over from his nearby home, and the suspect was shot in the led. The suspect was airlifted to Rochester, where he’s listed in fair condition and under guard after surgery at St. Marys.
