Queensland records slump in new home sales

The New Homes Sales Report showed sales across that nation increased moderately in June but were effectively flat over the first half of 2008.
“Australia is seeing strong demand for housing fuelled by record year on year immigration. Clearly production of new housing needs to at least capture this demand,” he says.
“Just last week the detail of the National Rental Affordability Scheme was announced. The increasingly challenging economic environment in 2008 ups the ante on the urgency required from all levels of Government to invest in measures to boost the supply of affordable housing.”
