The shortage of funds at the National Works Agency (NWA) is hampering efforts to drain and maintain critical drains along the major roads in St. Elizabeth.

This was disclosed by Communications Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, while responding to questions regarding along sections of the major thoroughfare leading from the Manchester to Westmoreland border at Scott’s Cove.

On Sunday and Monday motorists encountered difficulties negotiating the road as a result of heavy rains which lashed the parish.

Mr. Shaw said motorists will continue to experience the problem whenever it rains until adequate funds are identified to implement a drain and programme.
