Angie’s List: Gutter Cleaning

In tonight’s Angie’s Tuesday Tips, the consumer guide “Angie’s List” warns that thousands of people are injured every year cleaning gutters.
Angie Hicks of Angie’s List says”Accidents do occur. Ten percent of our Angie’s List reported knowing someone who had been hurt on a ladder. If you don’t have the right ladder or equipment you might consider hiring a professional.”
Angie says this is the worst way to clean your gutters is climbing up an extension ladder all alone, with no one helping you below.
Angie says if you must use a ladder, have a “spotter” below to steady it. Climb all the way up, and hold onto the gutter with one hand.Don’t lean: always move the ladder.
