Couple start new carpet cleaning service
posted by admin in Carpet CleaningA CUMBRIAN couple have launched the county’s first no-water carpet cleaning service. Ray and Helen Blackmore, of Lamonby, near Penrith, run the firm - called Purely Dry Clean Carpets - from their home.
When people think of carpet cleaning they think of water, mess, chemicals and total upheaval. We don’t use any water at all - it is a completely dry system. That means we can go into a house, shift the furniture, clean the carpet and have it back to normal almost straight away.
It is also good for the environment and can help people who suffer from allergies like asthma. Tests show it removes 85 to 90 per cent of dust mites in a carpet. The process begins with a dry carpet cleaning agent being sprinkled on the carpet.
A high-powered vacuum cleaner then sucks up the particles and the dirt. The waste creates a compost which Helen and Ray spread on their garden. The couple, who also run a natural health business from home, stumbled across the system being operated by US firm Host.
